FUNDRAISER: All proceeds are donate to EARTH ACTIVIST TRAINING and is the launch of The Story of the Witch tour.

Join us for an evening of exploring the mythology of the witch and how these stories and lineage influences our modern day relationship to magic, medicine, and self expression. This will be an event unlike other, and mixes story with ceremony to create a dynaimc group experience.

Weather permitting: this event will take place outside around a fire in a redwood palace of Solstice Grove. Consider bringing layers to stay warm, a pillow or low chair.

What to expect:
This evening will satiate the souls of people who feel a connection with the witches who were burned at the stake or destroyed for the knowledge they held and used. We will begin with the telling of an ancient story and will weave the alchemy of working with tinctures and herbal plant medicine wisdom to support the internal process. We will go through a group process of exploring where we are living in the mythology and explore how to transform how we are living in our own stories.

This is a fundraisier for Earth Activist Training (EAT)
Earth Activist Training (EAT) teaches permaculture design with a grounding in spirit and a focus on organizing and activism. We have a special interest in Social Permaculture—how we design our groups and organizations to foster beneficial human relationships, and on sharing the skills of regenerative farming, ranching and urban farming to impact climate change. We offer scholarships and work trade for activists and people of color working in environmental and social justice, and our community is diverse and beautiful. Green solutions are sprouting up all around us, but permaculture shows us how to weave them together into systems that can meet human needs and regenerate the natural world. EAT is practical earth healing with a magical base of ritual and nature awareness, teaching you to integrate mind and heart, with lots of hands-on practice and plenty of time to laugh. An EAT course can set your life on a new path…or show you how to save the world.

TerraVita Herbal Symposium: Pulse Diagnosis for Western Herbalists

Through the pulse we enter the body, we can access the story of each organ, the ancestral story, and story of current lifestyle. In this workshop we will study the basics of neo-Classical pulse, an extension of the Ding lineage medical tradition reaching back to the early 17th century. We will learn hand placement, pulse positions and their corresponding organs systems, the three depths within each point. We will begin to interpret our sensory findings, helping us formulate questions that will sharpen the precision of our western herbal practice!

Symbiosis Gathering: Medicinal Plants for Karma Clearing

In every traditional system of Earth based medicine there are plants that are considered godheads. These are the non-human plant ally’s that we rely upon from the green world. They have dynamic medicinal value, and over thousands of years have evolved alongside human health and their medicine stories are woven into human culture. This folkloric significance points to their ability to deliver medicine to mind, body and spirit with omnidirectional potency. Such transformative agency shifts us from the uncontrollable inherited patterns of thinking and acting that are at the root of our suffering, our karma. In this class we will explore plants’ that are considered godheads, their folklore, physical medicine, and our emotional response to their presence. Through sound journey and direct meditative experiences with two plants we bring awareness to how these plants shift our karmic patterns. Through our exploration we will gain a broader understanding of how to continue our ancient relationship to these plant ally’s in our return to personal freedom.

Diagnostics for Herbal Practitioners

Elaborate diagnostic tools were once a common part of the doctors tool kit, and certain traditions have retained these diagnostic art forms. To be a skilled herbal clinician, body palpation and assessment were of great importance.

Through the pulse and tongue expressions we can understand the story of the body, how it speaks, and how disease can be viewed individually as well as part of the whole system.

Yoga of Plants: The Instinctual Reemergence of Plant Communication

We have evolved alongside plants since the dawn of time, their medicine facilitating ritual and reminding us that we co-exist as intimately connected members of a larger community.  We as humans have separated from the natural world as our home, and in so doing forgotten the great sensitivity we possess to intuitively experience truths in nature.

Plants communicate in ways that we are not accustomed any longer. Together we will reignite our instincts by experiencing plant communication techniques from the Mayan tradition, including journey work supported with shamanic drumming and a short yoga practice with Mark Whitwell.  As we relax into our personal somatic knowledge, and group sharing of emergent wisdom, we will collectively arrive at a new and highly personal awareness of the vibrant landscape of plants. This will enhance our ability to wild harvest plant medicine as well as help us to access the pleasure that arises in embracing the natural world as an extension of the self.

Adaptogens: Master Herbs for Modern Stress

"Squash every week into a day" -Bauhaus

Our ability to move with ease in a multi-task contemporary world requires that we take care of our mind and bodies with the utmost care.  Unfortunately daily rituals of self care are often the first to vanish when we feel the pressure of the day-to-day.  Long term chronic stress has massive impact on our body, and specifically the thoughts we have when we are stressed trigger hormonal cascades that stimulate everything from adrenal overuse to low sex drive and oscillating thyroid function.

Adaptogenic herbs are known as hormone-modulators which are our main herbal support in regulating stress response and in turn changing our thought patterns.  In this workshop we will look at adaptogens native to North America as well important planetary adatopgens and their relationship to our endocrine systems capacity to minimize stress response. We will also approach adatogenic herbs as human animals, by ingesting herbs and discussing our somatic, emotional, and spirit experiences in community.

This workshop will include:

+ Plant attunement

+ Discussion of the physiology of stress response

+ Medicine making: learn how to make a dry plant tincture
